Albus is gone

My wife and I have been married for 52 years and during that time we have had 4 dogs and one wolf as well. They are gone now and often find myself looking out to the back yard thinking I would see them. The dogs we had in Alaska was a husky and the wolf/dog but hey got along together "most of the time" Wifes parents were old and had health problems and we moved to West Virginia with these pets and into a suburban setting with other homes nearby and that did disturb the wolf/dog. Long before I heard anything the wolf/dog would grow slightly but as the noise came closer and closer she would grow louder and go to front door and seemingly wait for the intruder to come in. She viewed me as "alpha dog" and would call her name (Tasha) and come back to where I was at the time. Often had friends visit and as long as I was with her there were no issues other than some wanting to pet her and warned them, I had no idea how she would take that. She weighed just over 100 pounds and could inflict serious wounds or even death if she attacked someone, but that never happened thank goodness.

Having had to put down too many dogs, these posts always sadden me. I can truly sympathize.
