I've been fighting a leaky connection in a livestock tank that's supplied by a well pump. Yesterday, we took it apart for the 3rd time and discovered a teeny crack in the new valve we replaced during repair #2(apparently a defective part). Got that replaced this afternoon and when I turned the pump on, it didn't sound right. Looked in the concrete "well house" to find water blasting everywhere.
Sure enough, the pressure tank bladder had ruptured and water was coming through the metal tank. Yeah, it's a bummer but obviously hadn't been leaking significantly until we relieved the pressure. It's a $175 fix but if not caught in time would have been 5X when the pump burned out. Unfortunately, the closest tank that will fit the confined space of the well pit is 80 miles away and there's an ice storm coming in Monday/Tuesday.

Mobuck, I feel your pain! Yeah, I too have a well. It works great for 10 years, then corrosion sets in. I need to replace my tank also. Waiting for summer. Good luck!

We put a new tank in yesterday. Wasn't as bad as expected other than fairly nasty in the bottom of the well pit from the gunk out of the old tank. Used the little loader tractor to remove the well pit cap for easier access which made things way better.
It's been a good set-up. Dug the well and set the pump/tank in 1992. Used it pretty hard last summer pumping spray water which may have been a factor in the ultimate failure-lots of cycles of that inner bladder.
