I have one just like it. I will probably leave it alone, but if I did anything it would be to buff the receiver to bare metal. I gave $190 bucks from it at a pawn shop about 20 years ago. LOVE that rifle.

Kir, no holes on the receiver were put there to add a scope. In the photo are holes for the screws holding the action together and to take the receiver apart. Not shown in your photo are 2 small screws upper left side on receiver near the hammer. Those are filler screws to add a peep sight. I don't know if there is a current scope mounting system for the 94s. Weaver did make a side mount at one time. Save your money and don't mount a scope on the side of a 94. Get a rifle that has angle or side ejection.

Edit: I enlarged the photo, See its is before Win drilled the peep sight holes. Look up the serial number on line and get its date of manufacture. It's an older one.
I would never put a scope on a lever. I am old school that way.

I got a 1974 vintage Model 94 in a multi gun deal from a friend who knew he was dying. He thought he had 8 guns but his son found 3 more guns for a total of 11. I had made a deal for the 8 and just added the unit cost for the additional 3. His son didn't want his guns and his daughter had drug issues so he didn't want her to have them. I kept the Model 94 and a few others, sold some and gifted another to a different friend. This particular Model 94 will be with me for the rest of my days and I have a good place for it when my time is done.

My friend wanted to get rid of this one as it belonged to his ex and didn't want it around. He loves guns just not this one. He offered it to me for free if I bought the ammo from him. Gave him $200. It was made in 1977 and was hardly used. Had a dent in the for stock, steamed it and filled it. Turned out nice.

I saw a Win 94 at our local gun shop a while back and it was $899. It looked like it had been drug behind a truck. I laughed and walked away.

I remember seeing those for sale @ $75.00 new in 1972 in a local store…you scored a great (for our times today) deal.
Yeah, I was just thinking about how many I have bought for under 200 bucks, both Winchesters and Marlins! Used to be after hunting season was over ever gun and pawn shop around would have used ones for sale dirt cheap!
