I'm looking at buying about a 2001 model 10/22 carbine (wood/blue) from a friend of mine. She's only shot it once and I tthought it was new when she got it. I'm not going to give her our original price because of excessive wear on the bolt from lack of cleaning. I did a quick disassembly, soaked it with RemOil, and wiped off the crud & excess oil. Fired a quick 100 rounds (didn't worry about accuracy, yet), then did a thorough cleaning.
Finally, the point. What kind of wear can the 10/22 bolt take before having to be replaced? I was planning on eventually uprgrading the barrel, mag-release, bolt stop, charging handle, recoil buffer, and sight mount to better quality pieces as I went on. My camera charger is MIA, so no pictures. The bolt isn't dead, yet. I don't expect any malfunctions soon, but it has some rough wear on it. Any he;p would be greatly appreciated.
