I was looking through my old Ruger catalogs, and in the 1993 catalog they show the new Ruger P93. But, it is not the metal frame P93, it is a polymer framed P95! Did Ruger put out the 95 with 93 on it, or was the metal framed 93 out first? I have never seen a polymer framed P gun with the 93 designation. Can any of you guys throw some light on this?

Just looked in the 1994 catalog, and they show the P93 as metal, and don't show the polymer framed 95 in any form!

In fact the P95 is not listed in the catalog until 1997! Now, I know Ruger was notorious for introducing models and them not showing up till years later, but the 93 marked P95 in the 1993 catalog really has me confused!

(I also put this post in the collecting section. If this is not allowed, please delete one or the other post.)

If you are curious about what guns were produced when, go to Ruger.com, click on "customer service" then "serial number history and instruction manuals" then "pistol instruction manuals and product history". Scroll down and you will see the production range for each of their products. According to their website, the P93 was produced from 1994 - 2004 while the P95 was produced from 1995 through 2004 to 2013, depending on variation.

Yes, I know that. But the 93 catalog shows a polymer framed 95 marked P93.

very interesting guessing it was protoype of some sort shown in the catalog and then never on the open market?

Interesting catalog page but nothing in the description mentions a polymer frame. The picture is ambiguous but no mention of polymer anywhere I could see.

It mentions Zytel - Dupont's nylon resin.

Yes, it clearly mentions Zytel, and the picture is obviously what we know as a P95, but marked P93. I know the pic is a little blurry (cell phone) but it obviously is not a metal frame. (note the metal serial number strip inbedded in the polymer frame)

Most likely, Ruger failed to make the release date and the name was changed to 95. Ruger has had several models over the years that have not released on time or pulled shortly after release due to issues or not released at all. The XGI is the most famous. It was advertised in the catalogue but pulled because the model was not accurate.
