This is a repost from SingleActions.com so I appologize if you've read it already

I am nearly complete with this set of grips, just the hardware is lacking, so I thought that I'd give the owner of them (and the others here) a glimpse of what they're going to look like.

The first three pics are as they were finished. They could have used another sanding at 600 grit with a few more coats of Tru-Oil but he wants them with a matte finish so it really doesn't matter. I'll do another post with the knocked down finishes.

The next pic is with one side knocked down with Birchwood-Casey's Stock Sheen and Conditioner. It is a mild abrasive and gives a nice, smooth finish. The last picture is with the finish then knocked down with 0000 steel wool. I think that is how he wants them, but we'll let the pictures decide.

These grips came out of a very large slab of wood that was cut from what I could imagine was a VERY large crotch in a Walunt tree. The slab weighed over 40 pounds and wasn't cheap to have shipped, but it was well worth the efforts to ship and resaw (and resaw and resaw) it down to usable sizes. The variety of material that I'm getting is incredible to say the least.

That is some nice wood. I like the matte finish with the Stock Sheen and Conditioner better than the gloss. It has the appearance of looking thinner for some reason.
