I was watching our 6:00 p.m. new tonight (WMCTV Ch. 5 Memphis) and there was a commercial for an erectile disfunction treatment. In this commercial, there is a man, dressed in physician's scrubs, and a young woman, nicely dressed in street clothes. They are seated in living-room type chairs with a table in the background. And each discusses some part of the treatment and expected results.

That just makes me feel uneasy to see that in that time period. That is early evening, children are still up, even some may have guests in their home. It just seems to me to be in very poor taste. And to have what appears to be a couple who are not married to each other discussing the subject, just seems wrong to me.

As my friend used to say, "This is just not my world anymore."

Amen to that.

I certainly agree, but kids should not be watching the news either. Its not like the commercial aired during a Charle Brown &Snoopy special.

Children not watching the news? I'll disagree with you on that. Maybe for the very little ones, who should be in bed already anyway. But children need not be shielded from life.

Seems to me your original post is literally about not exposing kids to life.

Remember the good old days when lawyers and Big Pharma weren't allowed to advertise on TV?
Yeah, they go on and on about some new wonderful drug and tell you to ask your doctor about it. If it was so good why doesn't your doctor recommend it to you? Isn't that his or her job in the first place?

Its not just on our TV. My wife is a big fan of British mystery shows. One that is pretty good is "Vera" that we get on Brit Box, via Prime Video. But in virtually every episode, there is an interracial couple. Maybe such couples are more common in the UK, but it sure looks like "woke" programming to show how "progressive" the producers of the show are. But at least there has not been any gay men kissing each other, at least in the episodes I have watched.
