This has probably been discussed many times, but a search didn't answer my specific question: Is American Eagle Tactical XM193, 5.56X45mm. 55gr FMJ ok for a Mini-14 Ranch?

My instruction manual says Ruger Mini-14 Ranch rifles are chambered for the .223 Remington (5.56mm) cartridge. the Mini-14 Ranch Rifle is designed to use either standardized U.S. Military, or factory loaded sporting .223 (5.56mm) cartridges manufactured in accordance with . . . .

I think I answered my own question, but I also think I remember a lot of discussion on this ammo and want to be absolutely sure.

What makes it "tactical?"

Anybody had any good or bad experiences with it?

That's what I was thinking too...

but part of the fun of shooting .223 or 5.56 is trying different types of ammo on your rifle and hopefully finding one that shoot well. I'm still trying to do that with both my mini-14s and my ARs. So far Ultra Max 55gr hollow points are tops.
