:D You guys are all familiar with the different Buckeye special edition Rugers sold by Buckeye Sports in Ohio. I bought this take down bow around 1990 when I lived in Ohio, it is marked "Custom made by Bear Archery for Buckeye Sports number 150 of 200." :D

:D Thanks Ed, I love the old recurves, grew up shooting them. I have a Hoyt Pro Medalist take down from the early '70's, full target rig, accra 300 sight, stabilizers etc. Older Bear recurves are getting collectible and are a whole world unto themselves (just like rugers). I would love to have one of the old Fred Bear signed take-downs with the latch hold downs. I think his book "Fred Bear's Field Notes" is one of the best hunting books of all time. You have to be a great guy if Ted Nugent writes a song about you!

Howdy Cape Cod Terry! I don't have one of the Fred Bear autograghed take downs like you describe but I do have one of the late Jim Brackenburys' early takedown recurves that he had Fred Bear autogragh. I don't shoot it much but I sure love the history in it.

:D Hi CD,
They have kits and blanks available for do it yourself bowmaking. A little more complicated than it looks though. I still have the second compound bow I ever bought, a 1980 PSE Citation Hunter which was their top of the line at the time. The compounds they make now with the 80% let offs and trigger releases take all of the challenge of archery out of it for me. Kind of like the modern in line muzzleloaders versus a flintlock. Not to knock anybody who uses either one, I guess it's just what I grew up with and the people I admired used. Still there is nothing like pulling back a bow to full draw with your own fingers and watching the arrow fly. :D

Beautiful bow!

I want a recurve. Years ago my wife indicated an interest in archery, and me, knowing absolutely nothing about the subject, walked into a sporting goods store going-out-of-business sale and bought a beautiful long bow. Unfortunately, it has a 65-70lb pull, and I can't even use it, much less my petite little bride. I've since gotten her a smaller bow, actually a kid's thing, but she can at least pull it.

One of these days I want to get a nice recurve with an adjustable pull that we can both enjoy. Just don't tell the neighbors: I think even archery in your own backyard is illegal where I live. I know air guns and even slingshots are against city ordinance...
