About 4 yr ago bought a 77/44 and put some shims in the bolt. Also did a job on the trigger, whatever Timney offered. Improved trigger but still like it somewhat lighter.
I also noted that the plastic stock wants to ride on the barrel at the tip on the right side. I relieved that a little but not completely.

Anyone else done any mods on their 77 series rifles?? I suspect they all can/need the same 'adjustments'.

Did bag a nice deer w/ it fall 2018. Really made a hole in the chest wall at about 75 yrds. Was some snow on the ground and every time front feet hit the ground there was a LARGE 'cloud' of fine droplets on the snow. Deer went about 50 yards. She should have never stopped and looked back or she could still be running.

I have Volquartsen parts in my 77/44 and trigger is very light.

Try putting a shim on both sides of the barrel when attaching the stock. Once it is snugged down pull them out and finish tightening. Should help keeping both sides away from barrel.
