I just piced up a 77 in 762x39. stainless with the wood insert panel stock and was told the wood insert stock was a limited run gun. Anyone know how many were made.

Interesting, RENE lists several KM77RP (Special Distributor model for Davidson's) with wood inserts.

The 7.62X39 is the only one they give production numbers for. SN range 780-40534 to 780-61186 with 1,217 produced.

It seems that I recently saw some pictures somewhere of a 77 with the wood inserts, looked great. Can't remember where, Lloyd any chance of getting you post some pictures?

I don't know how common or uncommon they are- I haven't ever seen another one. I have one that I bought from Davidson's in about 1991? or so with the goncalo alves wood inserts. It is a very nice rifle and is accurate too. It is one of those rifles that would be near the last of any that I would part with. Ruger made a more recent run of the M77 7.62x39s also. I will try and get a pix up. TnTnTn

Here is my blued model in 7mm-08. I have posted pics of this in the past. Still unfired...I need to do something about that. Even tried to sell it before. Don't know what I was thinking...glad nobody was interested in it!!

The walnut panels were an add on though and originally it came with the black inserts. I have seen the stainless and walnut insert models before and they are a sharp looking rig.

Let me know what your sn is and I can tell you which batch of 7.62x39 M77's it was, and probably how many made.

Other than a limited number produced, is there anything special about these? I've been hunting with mine since I bought it back in the early 90's for $315 OTD NIB
