Anyone know the demensions of the bore on the Ruger Hawkeye in 7.62 x 39? Does it have a .310-.311 groove diameter or did Ruger screw it up like on the early Mini 30 and make it with a .308" groove diameter and a .311 throat?

Before I buy one, I would like to know.

My Compact Hawkeye 7.62x39 is .311. Ruger confirmed that since 1990, their bore size for the 7.62 is 311, prior to that, it was 308.

I bought one of these about a month ago. I've only had it out twice. I've got a leupold 2x7 on it. I tried some old Norinco ammo, Wolf, and Golden Tiger in it. The wolf and Norinco ammo was ~ 3" @ 100 yards. The golden tiger grouped just over an inch at a 100 yards. I was pretty happy with the golden tiger. I just bought dies, bullets, and brass. If anyone else has a good load for this rifle let us know.

I'm really enjoying this light handy rifle. The hawkeye trigger is a vast improvement over the old 77MKII. Not as good as some of my rifles, but not horrible.

Finally got the rifle after all the blizzards and shutdowns. Now I have to wiat for a good snow melt so I can get out and shoot it.

It is a nice looking and feeling little rifle.
