Are these scarce? Were they all the same barrel length?

Ya don't see a lot of them but can't say scarce. I prefer them to the new ones but, it's older stuff that trips my trigger.

Think they came in 2.25 in barrel too and believe those are scarce. Some may have come with green grip inserts too. …. Hope I remember that right.

I think all the green grip insert guns were .38 Special in the 570-0xxxx range. The SP101 was originally only offered in .38 Special, as evidenced by the early manuals. This one has the green inserts, but it is a very dark shade of green, so you can barely tell:

The one on the left you can see the blade on the rear of the top strap. The one on the right does not look like a 6 shot .22 sp101

Correct it is a fixed sight GP100 .357 another odd ball with the longer barrel.

eveled,
I also have a 6 shot 22lr SP101 with a 2 1/4" barrel from the same time period, AND a fix sight GP100 but with a half lug 4" barrel. It kind of looks like a Service Six with mumps but I like it.

Looks like a pretty easy conversion if you wanted one.
Pretty sure it has to be a six shot model to convert it to wmr. The thought has crossed my mind for sure. The non adjustable elevation rear sight makes it less practical.
