You can also mute all texts from WM on your phone. That is what I do. It will remember the setting even if you delete the entire text thread. WM doesn't have to be a contact either.

My oldest sister has been retired for probably about 13 or 14 years. I am still maintaining a work schedule. She has been guilty of sending me texts at one or two o'clock in the morning. The last time she did it I sent her back a text when I got up at 3:30 a.m. to go to work. Mine said you sent me a text at one a.m. for this. I honestly think she is just oblivious to what time it is though she has gotten better since my response.
My wife just put her on silent. I have not. If a situation arose where she actually needed me, I would want to get the call/text.

Afraid of them? Just don't care enough to learn all the features. I'm not even sure why we call them phones anymore. They are a pocket computer that can be used to make phone calls. As a phone, they usually suck.

That is why we will see a "phone function" being complained about. Many that complain are too lazy to find out what features are available to improve their use.

I have two cell phones and no home land line.

One is my emergency use only from Tracfone that I've had over 30 years ans even after ALL cell services are down after a hurricane it works but unless it's an emergency use like finding my misplaced full time cell phone, it's turned off.

My regular use cell is always silent for texts and I never answer calls that are not expected or in my contacts file. T-mobile has a pretty decent spam screening system and those numbers are flagged as spam on the first ring.

I've always just liked and been intrigued with electronics and the smartphones have been both quite useful and entertaining for me. I am retired now but spent most of my life in an office environment and there were people my age and a little older who just refused to get used to using computers and such and ultimately retired rather than migrate to it.
