6 1/2" bbl S47?

I didn't know there were factory errors like this. Was it done as an error or possibly to test the waters for a shorter barrelled version?

Yep, pretty rare gun. About 600 made, an employee cutting barrel stock thought he was cutting .41 Magnum 6-1/2" barrels. Ruger shipped them out and never cataloged or made any more of them. Thus it will letter as a S47 with a 6-1/2" barrel not as a S46.

And...the vice-versa model "could" exist also for the exact same reasons...a 7-1/2" OM .41 Blackhawk :shock:

There have been some pretty well substantiated rumors of NM 7-1/2" .41 Blackhawks (non-Bisley).

Well, it's out of my price range but I think it makes a very attractive model with the shorter barrel and non-fluted cylinder. That's one nice package. When my stimulus money comes in I'll be ready to buy again! :roll:
