Congrats, and I hope you still feel about your wife the way you felt the day you married her.
Not to steal your thread, but for me its 59 years. My wife and I live, travel together and generally are doing well together. But sometimes it feels more like we are roommates than a married couple. I mostly feel the same way that I have ever felt about my wife, but it seems that she has changed over the decades, and that's just the way it is. I made what might have been a great mistake in my life by not working at maintaining old friendships. We moved around a lot, and it was all too easy to not maintain close contact with friends from my teenage years as well as work friends in other parts of the country, etc. So now I find that my building my entire life around my wife, and the thought that I really didn't need anyone else, may have been unwise. I am not implying that this might be the same for you, but more as a thought for younger members of the forum to not put all of their eggs in one basket as I did.

Congrats. We're at 53 later this month. When folks make comments about it my wife, jokingly I hope, says it's lasted this long because she hadn't murdered me in my sleep yet.

Judy and I married May 1st, 1965 (we celebrated 60 years last month). On May 1, 1943 my folks married. That made it easier to remember when to buy cards.
I told Judy she knew that I was a good meal ticket when she met me & after all this time I knew it was "cheaper to keep her". Thank goodness she still has a sense of humor after all these years. I still believe I married an angel and count my blessings every day.

That is a great milestone to celebrate...congratulations! :)
My experience is very similar to that of Vito. We have been married 61 years and we aren't just married, we're best friends. We don't have the friendships with others that we should, but our family lives close. One of my best social outlets are these forums, helps me maintain my sanity quite a bit.
My wife and I were both contemplating being cremated because of the costs involved but have since changed our minds.

In January my wife and I were married 45 years. We were together after the first date for three years before we married. So, together for 48 years (in August). I'm 5 years older than my wife and she has been a great friend, wife, mother and grandmother. I got lucky when we met. We both worked at the same Kroger grocery store. I worked in the Produce Department and she was a Lead Baker.
I previously had married my high school sweetheart for 3 years and divorced after she turned out to be a real nightmare! Lucky I never had kids with her!
