Does anyone know the REAL reason that they stopped, just when they had them perfected? They've got to be one of the rarest Rugers ever made. Any chance they will ever be reserected? Even a full sized 5 shot would be great!

I'm not so sure they ever had them perfected. It's my understanding that sticky case extraction is the issue which never got solved due to the characteristics of the alloy they use in the cylinders. ps

How about the number of 6-shot 480's produced??

I don't have any figures, but most of the distributers have been pushing them out the door for anywhere from $625, to $675 each, the last I heard.(That's for the full sized models, I haven't seen any of the 480 Alaskans at those prices, but I haven't looked for them either.)
