It appears that you're taking this from Hodgdon's data set. And you're suggesting that that data is directly relatible to the Nosler JHP?

I can't seem to find any H110 data specifically for the Nosler.

I did a side by side comparison of the two bullets (XTP vs Nosler) and the cantelure is basically the same height. Seems to me that that would result in equal pressures if they were both taking up the same amount of case volume.

I'd start at 24 grs and then see if you want more...Should give you 1200+ fps....JMO

Well 24.0 gr sounds reasonable. I'm currently shooting 24.0, 24.5 and 25.0 gr of H110 for 250 gr XTPs. All three loads shoot well.

Anybody else want to chime in?

I missed the nosler part sorry about that. when I used to shoot jacketed stuff it was always xtp's and for some reason it was either me or the guns that did better with 25.7 of h110. Now i use the same load with my cast bullets but if I recall your gun seems to dislike cast bullets. So unfortunately I have no useful info for you sorry about

Dug out my shootin' journal and FWIW, I got 1346 av vel using 25.5 grs of W296 under a 250 XTP. (7.5" barrel).... What limited Nosler dope I have, from "The Complete .45 Colt Manual" doesn't even show any Ruger loads with H110/W296!! (Guess they don't read John Linebaugh!  ) Nosler's fastest load is 17.0 HS7 for 1281 and most accurate being the MAX load of 20.0 grs 2400 for 1103 fps...Sounds like either older data or Nosler's lagging behind the "performance curve" a little...I expect you're aware of Linebaugh's powder/pressure comparison chart?

Well I went ahead and loaded up a pair at 23.0 gr and a pair at 23.5 gr to test out before I jump right to 24.0 gr of H110 and the Nosler 250. Should I start out any lower or am I good?

Thanks Jimbo! Unfortunately that data is for Nosler Partitions, not the standard 45 Colt handgun (non-partition) slug. Either way, seems like I should be pretty safe starting at 23.0 grains and working up to 24.0 grains. Agreed?

I used 25.5 W296 which is Linebaugh's starting load and that gave me 1343 with a WW case, 250 XTP, WLP.....JMHO, but I would have no qualms about firing 23 grs of H110 behind a 260 Nosler in a .45 Ruger...Here's link to reread "The Myth" which is enlightening to say the least: http://www.customsixguns.com/writings.htm

I went right to the source today. I called Hodgdon. Very nice and helpful people every time I call them. The tech told me that I would be fine using the H110 250 grain XTP data for the Nosler 250. He said the surface tension, hardness and case capacity were essentially the same. The guy really knew his stuff. Funny how weird it is to call a company and talk to a real person that is willing to give you a real answer, that you believe, and it happens in a very timely manner. :D

The 250's are rated for much lower velocities than the 260's. One is for the .45 colt and one is for the .454 Casull. You can hand load them close but the factory loads are quite different. I was warned of throat-erosion problems if I tried to push the 250's through my .454 at high speeds.
