Understanding what a snubby SP101 in 357 recoils like I can only imagine the felt recoil in 44 Mag from them would be a true handful.
I agree. My Redhawk with a 5.5 inch barrel cab buck hard enough.
And with those small, slick grips. I'd love to give em a go but would start w heavy spl and move my way slowly up till no mas as Roberto Duran once said.

My two short barreled single actions are my one and only Vaquero birdshead in .45 Colt, my .44 is a Super Blackhawk.
They're both barkers but the Vaquero is more fun to shoot but still I've been jonesing for a Ruger Alaskan in .480
