44 mag question

As I understand it, Ruger does not make "semiauto 44" mag rifles anymore. Was there a reason such as not selling good, problems with the rifles, etc. Does anybody know.

I know the first model was finiky about the ammo it would work with for many people. The one I had shot the factory ammo and the reload I liked to use in any 44mag I have. Sold it because I needed the cash and no longer wanted a rifle/pistol of the same cartridge to hunt with. Also had a custom 308 which was real light and short to use.

They weren't making too many of them before they stopped production as you can see from the chart

All I know is they are pretty awesome guns. Mine is pretty accurate and it handles very well.

Thanks for the replies. I did not think they made many of the Deerfields.
