Lynn Halstead, Dry Creek Bullets, LAH here on the forum. Shoot him a pm and ask for his 250 Keith. It is exactly what you speak of and he doesn't cast them hard as woodpecker lips either. They shoot great even if you push them hard and he uses a good quality lube (LBT blue or blue soft).

Now I know no one wants to admit this but the bevel base will shoot just as we'll as the fb. I'd also ask Lynn if he has any of his .44 "blasting bullets" 240gr bb ... They are in my 44 spl most days in front of 7.5 grs of Unique and never lead a bit either.

thanks ;the BB seem to "lead " the barrel worse than flat ..running 22grs. of 2400 & like then hot ...web-site says "out of stock"

Shoot him a pm. I didn't say check the website...he may be too busy casting to update that. Hell he could be doing something really important like fishing!

He may have a few hundred he's sitting on waiting for the right fella to pm him.

:D

And btw...that load is definitely warm. Have fun and good shooting.

Beartooth Bullets has a Kieth 250 plain base. http://www.beartoothbullets.com/bulletselect/index.htm Also a bunch of other weights and designs (RNFP, LFN, gas check, etc.) from .429" to .432" diameter and from 240 gr. up to 325 gr. for handguns and 405 for rifles. Good quality product and great folks to deal with.

I can make you some of these this week. You probably need them 14-15 BHN if you're going to push them that hard though Mr. Keith used 10-12 BHN.

Guess the fish weren't biting ? LOL. Yup, those look like Keiths. Where in the hardwoods are ya hiding ? Am more familiar with the Penn woods/ANF, but have spent time in West by Gosh Va too, over the yrs.. stevemb(off to check your website)

I'm in WV, southern part.

Got friends heading for the Green Briar area right now. I'm more familiar with Pendleton Co., Spruce Knob and Seneca Rocks. Spent a weekend in West Moorefield , at the mansion on the upper Potomac. Its haunted... has both kinds a spooks, ya know ? stevemb

Missouri Bullet Co. has some good ones to choose from. I like their 240 gr. bevel base semi-wadcutter. A great bullet in both .44 Spl. and Magnum. I use Win 231 or HP38 for loads up to 1100 fps with sub-2" gps at 25 yds. I've not tried them faster with any powder, preferring to use AA#9, Win 296 or 2400 with jacketed bullets while hunting deer.
