Now I have something to look forward to come spring.

😁 Was the ammo included in the box?
Not so much.

Part of my motivation for getting this. 300 rounds loaded up, half are plinkers the others are HP's and these Philips heads.

Had a 6 1/2" that I simply couldn't get the hang of. However I'm decent with a couple other revolvers with shorter barrels. I want this thing to work out.

How do you like those "Phillip head" bullets? I don't know anyone around me that runs them, and I'm generally suspicious of on-line reviews/adverts. Specifically, I'd be interested in any feeding or external ballistics (range/accuracy) info you might have, related to a Henry (.41mag) and .45acp +P from a Ruger LC Carbine.

Somebody purchased in Germany several months ago brand new, NM BH, 41 Magnum, 6.5" barrel for 44,5 euros. Yes, you reed it right, 44.5 euros. I think it was revolver stuck in Frankonia store, nobody wanted revolver in this caliber, so it was sold for next to nothing. Unfortunately, I was late. Yep, I have brass (over 500 Starline), reloading dies and these molds:

41 Magnum bullets.JPG

Top one 225 grains H&G #258 clone, center 265 grains and bottom 225 grains, all from MP-Molds https://www.mp-molds.com/ , all brass 4 cavity, top quality, second to none.

I didn't want bottom one, it came by mistake. I wanted LBT 265 grains. To make long story short, Miha from MP-Molds told me not to bother sending back bottom one, he just shipped LBT 265, and I compensated for that mold another way.

Nevertheless, I don't need bottom 225 as GC, but will open it so it will be plain base. Now, all I need is 41 Magnum revolver, hopefully in Bisley, configuration. Yes, I had it, and in moment of stupidity, sold it. The biggest mistake I made dealing with guns, still kicking myself today.

So far I'm sold on the idea anyway. They are made by lehigh defense. Solid copper non expanding. The flutes create a lot of damage by pushing fluids sideways. They penetrate further without the mushroom parachute.

Check out Blackhills Ammunition Honeybadger line for more info.

I have loaded these Lehigh bullets in 9mm and .45 Auto and they function 100% in my CZ 75B and Kimber 1911 respectively. Paul Harrell made a video on these bullets and they did well in "the meat test".

@ Terry & Herter: I know the terminal ballistics are impressive, but that wasn't what I was asking about. I'll assume neither of y'all have any hard data specific to my question (feeding & external ballistics in the rifles mentioned), but thanks for replying anyway. :)

Jim,, you need to try one. The .41 mag is a good performing caliber,, and pleasant to shoot. As those of us who shoot & enjoy them,, "If you have to ask,, you just don't understand."

But I will say the .41 mag really shines for handloaders. Factory offerings are limited,, but handloads,, well, hard to beat it!

That .41 mag. is a beauty. I have New Model Blackhawks in .357 mag. and in .44 mag. currently. That .41mag. sure looks tempting…
IMHO if there is no more universal caliber than 41 Magnum. This is shooter's caliber, for somebody who likes to shoot considerably. Many folks, especially third age, discovered that prolonged shooting of even moderate loads like 44-250 grains at 1100-1200 fps makes quite strain on their hands. Not so problem shooting 41-210/220 grains at same velocities. In addition, Bisley grip is for lot us far the best. Minimizes effect of recoil like no other grip. Also, another excellent grip have FA revolvers, but their prices are too much for the most of us.

As for 41-210/220 at 1100-1200 fps, this is relatively moderate load, easy on brass and ears (if fired in a hurry without earmuffs), yet still very formidable and far more effective than any hot loaded 357 Magnum.

If handgun hunter is going to face something larger, like large wild boar, feral pig, elk, even bear, 41 Magnum will do it. First, very interesting post from Terry Murbach, shooter, handgun hunter and writer:

"...I DO KNOW I CAN RUN 300gr BULLETS AT 1100FPS FROM ALL MY 45COLT SIXGUNS INCLUDING THE COLT AND S&W M25-5 GUNS OF VARIOUS BARREL LENGTHS WITH LOADS THAT ARE STRAIGHT OUT OF THE LAST FEW SPEER MANUALS.
A 45 CALIBER 300gr LFN BULLET AT 1100 WILL COMPLETELY PENETRATE ANY ANIMAL IN NORTH AMERICA AND YOU NEED NOTHING ELSE. MORE SPEED MAY FLATTEN THE TRAJECTORY A BIT-- darned LITTLE TOO AS A MATTER OF FACT-- BUT ALL YOU ARE DOING AT 1100 OR 1300 IS POKING A 45 CALIBER HOLE IN AND A 45 CALIBER HOLE OUT.

THE MOST INTERESTING PART OF THIS TO ME IS THE FACT THAT A 454424 KEITH BULLET AT THE SAME SPEEDS--1050 TO 1100-- DOES THE SAME WORK AND DOES IT AT EVEN LOWER PRESSURES. THIRTY SIX YEARS AGO I PUT FIVE TONS OF MEAT ON THE GROUND WITH THE KEITH LOAD FROM A RUGER 45COLT 4 5/8" SIXGUN [ 1075FPS FROM THIS GUN ] AND NEVER RECOVERED A SINGLE BULLET. THEY WENT COMPLETELY THROUGH FROM EVERY CONCEIVABLE ANGLE INCLUDING FROM STRAIGHT ABOVE.

THERE IS NO NEED FOR ANY HEAVIER BULLETS OF ANY KIND IN THE 45COLT CARTRIDGE"

We all know that main factors for any handgun bullet are weight and meplat, of course, when lunched at decent velocity. So, if we have same bullet weight and same meplat dia as 454424, but in 41 Magnum, like this MP 413-265-WNFP (PB and GC):

MP 413-265-WNFP PB and GC.JPG

There is no animal in North America that this bullet at 1100-1200 fps wouldn't penetrate completely, medium size even lengthwise. Using revolver with 7.5" barrel, and top loads of H110 or W296, will drive this bullet about 1300 fps. Enough for anything that should be hunted with handgun.

If someone wants more about top loads for 41 Magnum, see:

Everything old is new again!

6.5mm check
10mm check
Revolvers check
Lever action check
.41 sorta check 😁
Gunmakers have to keep interest up, this stuff is generally old enough that anyone interested will have to buy a new gun. It would seem that everyone wanting a new AR has 2-3 of them. Every possible size of 9mm semi auto seems to have been made, to include double stack 1911's. Pump up the silencer, now everyone has a need for a new threaded version of what they are familiar with at minimum.

I'd say it's pretty easy for Lipsey's to get time on the assembly line. Especially for something that's already "invented".
