Yep. 40mm, not .40 cal. The M32 Grenade launcher with Joy Weiss and the Gunny.

About 10 minutes.

In the "Nam era, weren't we using single shot M-70's for 40MM's? Are they still around?

That is one cool multi-shot launcher.

When I was in the infantry, I used to absolutely love shooting the M-79 grenade launcher (looked a single shot shotgun on steroids and loaded like one - we called it 'The Blooper') which also shot the 40 mm grenade.

P.S. I'm in love with Kirsten.

When we were planning on firing the "chunker" on our Huey gunship we would remove all the 'eyebrow' light bulbs on our instrument panels or when we fired, the shaking would pop out onto the deck. It did shake the ship a bit.

The M79 is long gone. IIRC, the SEALs were the last ones to use it. It was replaced by the M203, which mounts under the M16/M4. The M203 is, in turn, being replaced by the M320A1, whcih can be mounted underneath a rifle, or utilized in a stand-alone mode.

One of the many good things about the blooper was you could after firing it actually see the round as it went down range.

It was also very easy to be accurate with.

The very first time I shot one, was at a target, probably 300 meters downrange and was a window half open type target. My round went right in.

I was astonished at how easy it was to be accurate with.

I wasn't alone.

My entire platoon was good with it too.
