I am looking for a recipe for a 40 S & W 165 RNFP Rainer Plated bullets to be shot (target) from a Sig 229. I have been shooting Clays with my Hornady XTP bullets but the cost is getting to me.

My modest load with that bullet has been 5.2 grns Hodgdon Universal with a 1.25 col(check that). I did chronograph them but don't have the data in front of me. They are modest loads that cycled fine smack dab in the mid or less range. I shot them mostly in my H&K USP 40 compact.

I recommend a start load behind that Rainier of 6.0g Power Pistol.

Sized case, CCI 500 or WSP, OAL 1.130"+/-.005", finished with the LEE Carbide Factory Crimp die.
