I just bought a box of 40 grain Hornaday V-Max bullets for my .223 #1V. Ive never shot such light bullets in the .223 or 22-250.
Are they accurate and how far out are they accurate?
Any "dead cinch, Guarenteed Lock" Pet Loads????
I just bought some IMR 8208 that's featured in the new Hodgdon's 2010 Annual manual. They promote some loads using this new wonder powder with the 40 grainer. The articles in the magizine are what turned my light on for trying 40 gr. bullets.
Any input appreciated.......

I used to use those 40gr V-Max in .223 (5.56) in my HK with 11" twist for high power competitions with a near max load of Win 748 and they were incredibly accurate. The same load in my 7" twist barrel still works, but opens up quite a bit.

I still pick up the 40gr V-Max for the HK whenever they are on sale.

Love em out of my Rem. 700 22-250. IMR 3031, pretty fast/high end on the load chart for coyotes and prairie dogs. Well under 1" @ 100yds. P-dogs out to 400 yds.

My Rem 700 likes them down to about 52g but things
open up below that. I think its a 1/12 twist.
