4-5/8" .44 Mag Flat Top

I've only seen one and the guy had the barrel cut back by a gunsmith. It was almost mine but we couldn't find common ground on a price. AFAIK, Ruger never officially made a 4 5/8" flat top OM, although I wouldn't doubt a few lunchbox specials in that configuration are around.
Paul B,

Probably be easier to find a shooter grade 6.5 incher and pull out the hacksaw. (joking).

A decent shooter grade version that still had it's 6.5 inch barrel, just sold here in Nebraska on an online auction tuesday for $667 after buyers premium and tax, but before $25 FFL fee, and shipping. Had a little bluing wear around the cylinder edges and end of barrel, but otherwise looked pretty decent, so they're still out there.

I found one with barrel cut to 5 1/2” with a separate 6 1/2” barrel. Put that one on the 44 mag FT.
Cut the 5 1/2” to 4 5/8” and installed it in my old model 357 FT that I never shoot along with a 44 Spl cylinder found on Gunbroker.
I much prefer a 44 Spl on that 357 mid-size frame.

There was just one on GB that went unsold. It might get relisted if you want a link to it.

It appears that I'm not going to be in the market for anything for a while. Siiiiiiigh....
But I darned sure would love to see one in person to feel the balance.
Blued 44mag in 4 5/8 with the dragoon frame is exactly what I have been wanting. Extra points awarded if it has a fluted cylinder

I guess the lack of front sight would make for a smoother draw, though would make it a bit harder to hit what you're aiming at.

I didn't even notice the lack of the front sight. I assume that would be an easy add for the right person with the tools and knowledge. Which knocks me out of the running lol

Find a well worn 6.5" and go for it! That's what I did. 😉👍

That is almost perfect, my only addition would be a Super Hammer...
It had been converted to the "upgrade"...🙄 When I first got it, and I had to source some original parts in order to restore it back to good and proper.
I DO have a couple OM Super hammers in my parts boxes, but I'm saving them for other projects. 😉

Paul B,
As I recall there’s one or two from the factory listed in “The Book” for special people like maybe Elmer Keith???
