38-55 Win Ballard load

Anyone got some good loading data on the 38-55 Winchester Ballard using a 260 gr. hard cast fp with a gas check? I plan to shoot it in a vintage 1894 made about 1900 but in tight and good shape. Wondering about using 4198, 2400, or ?? Don't need a rocket. 1300 to 1400 fps is fine for just goofing around with it.

The best propellent I have found for my 38-55 rifles with lead bullets and gascheck cast bullets is XMP5744. The best group so far is .55" at 100 yards. Load data is from athe ACCURATE ARMS LOADING MANUAL.

I have to second that XMP5744 recommendation. It is great for the 38-55. I use it in my late 1890's Marlin 1893s with great success.
