I was messing around with my new KP345 the other day and I noticed that my 1911 magazines looked pretty similar. When I layed them on top of each other they look almost identical. I was able to lock a 1911 magazine in my KP345 and get it to cycle rounds as long as I held the magazine all the way in, flush with the bottom of the pistol grip. I guess you could use 1911 mags if you needed something in a pinch.

guess you could open up the catch hole in a 1911 magazine to allow it to lock into place... that's the only real difference

but then it probably wouldn't work right in a 1911

Yes it can be done, just be careful. Mag works fine in my P345, but will not lock in my P90. I think mag catch is a bit wider on the P90. Since it's lower than the 1911 it will still function in the 1911 without any problem.
