In full disclosure, I've got a 340 Weatherby Mag so am partial to that round.
Just saw this video Hope you enjoy.

YIKES, I break too easily to shoot either.
I might add that I have dropped back to the .338 Winchester and passed the 340 to a nephew. The Win mag is close enough for me these days and it doesn't kick as bad. I don't really like brakes so the 338 Win and my 9.3x62 are about the max I can tolerate these days, my 45/70 is up there as well.

At a Colorado elk camp, I helped a guy re-zero his 338 Win Mag. He was flinching so bad he jerked the rifle off the sandbags once when he forgot to release the safety.
This was back in the days when I shot a 300Win mag for competition and hunting but the 338 was just too much.

Yep
And that 340 takes it up to another level.
I think the .338 caliber is excellent but in the magnums it is getting a bit much for me, I'm seriously considering having one of my .30-06s rebored or rebarelled in the .338-06.
The one I shot gave up a little in velocity but the recoil wasn't bad.

I went down that path twenty years ago but then the Colorado guide I'd been hunting with lost his territory to 'live in the mountains' homes and I never hunted with it. It's for sale if you're really interested. Might take a while for me to find it  . Mauser 98 with an A&B(?) barrel.

Post #10 beat me to the statement. But I like to repeat stuff. It's the belted case, the belt I say the belt. Not much other difference. Belted mag. cases were once considered necessary back in what 1900 something. There really not needed any longer and some will say cartridges without a belt are better. For a bolt action hunting rifle, belt, no belt who cares. Other uses non belted cases seen to be better.

I may be interested in it, I'd have to see a few pictures
