So I have a Blackhawk .327 on order. It should be here in a week or so. I went out today looking for .327 ammunition. All I could find were .32 S&W longs. The brass isn't the same dimensions is it? What about reloading dies? Do I need two sets, one for 32 Longs and the other for .327, assuming I can find brass and or factory ammo?

You can shoot the 32 S&W Long in the 327 mag. Not sure about the dies. Check out the die company websites. I shoot S&W Long in my 32 H&R mag single six's just fine but the recoil is much less than than the H&R mag. I like at least a little kick. They feel like a 22 long after the shooting H&R mags. At ~$25.00 per box for the S&W Long I'd just as soon shoot the 22. The 327 mag is the same case just longer than the other two.....and more kick I'd bet.....never shot one.

I fired off the SP101 with 3" barrel and the hot Speer 115 GDHP Monday and the recoil was light; less than a 158 grain +P in 38 Special IMO.

My Redding dies work for both 32 S&W Long and 32 HRM. I'm not sure yet if they work for the 327 Federal. Usually the maker states if they are good for multiple length calibers, ie, 38/357, 44 sp/44mag, etc.

Your 32 H&R dies will work for the 327; you just have to adjust them for the additional case length, i.e. seating die and expander die. I did get a carbide 32 sizer die from Dillon that works well. I have been shooting the 327 in a Buckeye NMBH for several months and think it another good cartridge, although not sure what "niche" it fits into.

Would that be the small and fast "niche"?? I can't think of another cartridge like it. :D :D

I thought 32 auto was a hair smaller than 32 S&W/H&R mag/327 mag ? 32 auto brass will typically split if shot in a gun meant for 32 H&R.

32 auto neck dia = .336

32 mag neck dia = .337

Guess not that far off, although 32 auto used a .308 bullet and 32 mag uses a .311.
