I pulled apart my converted .41 Mag 3 screw Blackhawk today and from what I can tell by the pics in the Ruger exploded view pics the conversion was done with Bearcat internals, stamped steel transfer bar, etc. I apologize in advance for my layman's description, I can provide some pics tomorrow. My gunsmith buddy says he's never seen one. Early conversion? Can some of the experts provide some enlightenment? I was thinking of gathering the parts to convert it back, but not sure if I really want to. What say you?

Just post a picture or two, the description is not much help.

As for convert it back to the original action, that is up to you.
Me,,,, I would, I like my old model guns with original parts, or in the case of my OM 41mag,,, Super Hammer, Micro Sight, and BGF.

I bought a .357 recently that would not lock up (cylinder). Took pictures and posted on this forum, the hammer was identified as a Single Six. I believe the pawl was as well. Put in a hammer and pawl out of my parts box, works like new, and now is one of my favorite BHs.

G2, what are those grips on your 41 mag you showed in reply #3 above?
Brand? Material?
Thanks
Those grips are Mikarta from Hogue.
They come very thick and "blocky",,, after an hour so with the grinder, files, sandpaper, I get the fitting near perfect and thinned to where they work for me. The Base Material is very good, tough, and lends itself to the "fitting".

OP
Ok I went over to see what your looking at at Numrich, Yes the NM bearcat drawing/illustration does look/ appear to be the "OM Safety Conversion".

Contender's comments are spot on.

Here is a set of those parts. Why? Because a picture is a thousand words…😁

… and pictures always make for a better thread…😳

The Conversion does make for a carry all six chambers loaded safely,,,,
but doesn't come close to the smoother ORIGINAL action.

Pictures can be generic. Bearcat parts will not work in a Blackhawk.
Neither will Single-Six parts.
Hammers, triggers and base pins are all different sizes.
As far as I know, triggers are interchangeable between Blackhawks and Single Sixes. I have used Old Army wide triggers in OM Single Sixes, with great success. I do believe the Bearcat to be a breed all its own, however.

As far as de-converting, if that's a word- all of my converted guns have been brought back to original status.

A old model Single-Six hammer will work in a OM 41 Mag.
It is 1/8" or so short of the rear sight when against the frame but will fire the gun.
BTDT to make a long story shorter.
