twriggen, if you're interested, number 32-00100 New Model .357 is linked in the auction and recurring items area.
Cool info!
On a similar note, has anyone had a serial number which had the caliber in the last two or three digits?
The 21 club guns were the Number 1 rifle and 20 gauge red label only. Those who received one or the other or both received them because they had a number reserved for them in the low number serial number program.I started doing some research on Ruger "subscription" serial numbered guns, and I'm beginning to think that Bob Brister wasn't a typical "subscriber" who had the option of buying new Ruger models with serial number 87 whenever they were introduced, but rather might have been a member of Ruger's "21 Club", which was comprised of sporting & outdoor writers and one or two close friends of William B. Ruger. It appears firearms may have been presented to these members rather than being purchased by them.
Do you think that's possible?
He's listed as a "21 Club" recipient on post #4 of this thread:

Very coolYes. Our old friend Bob C. had .357 Flattop serial number 357.
We chipped in and bought him an appropriate original box for it.
