I broke down and picked up a new Ruger 3.75" Super Blackhawk a couple of weeks ago and finally made it to the range today. I had loaded 100 rounds of 240 hard cast over 10 grains of Unique that supposedly runs about 1030 fps. After a few rounds at 15 yards I got it regulated using a 6 o'clock sight picture. Standing with a two handed hold it/I was consistently shooting around 3". I moved the target back to 30 yards and now I am up to about 5". SNL and I threw out some clay disks on the berm at 50 yards and shooting off had we eventually hit them all but there was a lot of 6-8" missing going on. We were really just plinking and not looking for groups today. Once I get a few more hundred rounds through it, parts should smooth up nicely. The trigger is better than expected and recoil is not an issue at all. As mentioned by other owners the fit of the grips is poor but not a big deal as this is a knock around gun.
Switched over to the 7.5" Redhawk shooting the same loads and it is wicked accurate out to 50 yards. If I can ever afford to get on a good Texas lease again the game better watch out. Either weapon will do the do as expected. Thanks for everyones bad influence on me, I really like this new shooter. Next i need on of those nifty little 45acp shorties. Gary
