Ok, you walk into a local GS and you see a brand new Single Six in blue in the box with 22 Mag cylinder complete and the guy wants $675. for it. It's a beautiful gun, and just below it on another shelf is an equally beautiful Single Six in it's own original box with manual, 22 Mag cylinder in it's original red velvet bag in box, and is unfired. Box is in great shape and the gun looks like it's never been touched even though it 's 50 years old...The guy wants $550 for it. This GS owner knew the old owner (estate sale) and knows the complete history of the gun. Unfired and Beautiful. Which one of these guns would you buy ??

My oldest New Model is a 1974 model with old model cylinders. It use to belong to my late father inlaw. His first wife bought him a new Wincheser model 61M in 22 magnum when they first came out. His second wife give him the 1974 Single Six to go with the rifle. His third wife gave me the Single Six when he passed away. He had given my wife the Winchester over 40 years ago. Both the Winchester and Single Six have been shot very little as my father inlaw was more into fishing. He spent 25 years in the Navy and fished all over the world. My daughter or granddaughter will them someday.

74, made in the days when WBR was running the joint and cared about what went out the door.

Now days,,,, it's a "KIT",,, true assembled, but it sure seems Ruger's QC isn't what it used to be.
True Ruger will send a pick-up label and re-work the gun,,, if it's within a certain time period from mfg…😳

Me ,,, I just tear apart the ""KIT" and build it to my liking,,, 🙄
Quality parts, assembled.

Ok Guys.......When I started this thread, I looked up the current MSRP on the Ruger website. It was $829. Now I know one can buy a new SS for less than that, so I used $675 for the price......Now to make it a liitle more interesting, what if the Just like new 1974 in the box, was Also $675, like the new one ? Would you guys still take the '74 ?? I don't mind saying that I would buy it for sure over the New one.....I think Randy's post was good in saying that anyone can buy a new gun anytime, but how often can one buy a new "old" gun ?? That really kind of never or hardly ever happens at all in real life in my opinion anyway.
