1974 Single Six, Stainless steel question about cylinders

I have a New Model Single Six, serial number 63-28XXX. When I purchased it used it came with a second cylinder in 22 magnum.
I saw on line that these revolvers in 1974 only came with a .22 LR cylinder.
Is that accurate? Both cylinders are electric penciled with the last 3 digits of the serial number.
It does not shoot well with 22 Magnum. Is that because the barrel diameter is too small?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Welcome
Convertibles ( guns with 2 cylinders ) are common. Still made today I believe.

Your gun was made in late 74. See here for a source of more detailed info:

Not all Single Sixes are Convertibles with two cylinders.
Some just have one.
Some are fixed sites.
Some have adjustable sites and those are called Super Single Six.
Then they made blue ones too …. And different barrel lengths and more …..

Welcome to the Forum!"

Your online info isn't exactly correct.

In 1974,, Ruger produced MANY convertible Single-Sixes. Yours is correct by having the last 3 digits on the face of the cylinder. And as noted above,, there are several variations of them in 1974.

But you are a bit backwards concerning the barrel diameter. For many decades now,, the barrel diameters have been larger,, NOT smaller so as to allow safe shooting of the .22 Mags. All their barrels in the Single-Six line,, AFTER serial number 150000 have the larger bore. Yours is well past that.
Usually the .22 mags shoot better than the .22 LR ones. Maybe try different ammo??

Thank you all for your information.
I will try CCI ammo next time I take her to the range. I find CCI to be the most reliable 22/22mag ammo I have used.
Have a wonderful weekend all!
