I have a line on a Blackhawk serial #94XX which I believe would be 1957. It has minor bluing wear and is offered at $300. Thoughts?

The 1963 gun is almost certainly a "protected sight" gun, not a Flattop.

Big difference in value.

Here is the serial number he gave me 438XX. It does say unconverted and is a 3 screw.

Likely early 1963, a Type I Transition gun, depending on specific parts present.

The "earred models" started at 426XX.

Seems we have danced this dance earlier........Earred models began at 42690. This gun is 438XX 438XX minus 42690 equals --1XXX difference. Thus, a four digit earred model. I don't care if Ruger did not start at 00001 on the earred guns. The numbers do not lie. ********* Modified to cover my math error(S)....Maybe that is why I did not do well with the Accounting classes I had taught by a middle eastern "did not know" English Prof........Perhaps one of the first terrorists....... :shock: :?

BC Mike, for $300 Canadian (yeah, I know it's close to USD these days, but it still looks like Monopoly money to me), I would think any unconverted flattop would be a deal.

I assume that is a .357 since the 94XX in .44 would be 1958.

Well, it still should be a collectible transition gun, may or may not have a Micro rear sight. There is overlap in the type 1/2 ranges and 438xx is in the overlap area.
