184 series mini/saddle ring

I was at a new(er) gun shop yesterday and noticed a 184 series Mini 14 with a saddle ring.

Being basically ignorant to variations of the mini, was this a factory thing or a owner installed deal.

The saddle ring, which looked very nice, was in the stock reinforcement screw.

I have never seen a factory saddle ring on a mini-14. I do not know of any ruger with a factory ring.
