Ok, after a lot of looking around, this is what I found.

Production:
17 HMR came out in 3-16-2004
17 HM2 came out in 11-11-2004

So far I haven't located the serial number start.

The RENE shows that a couple of prototypes showed up in 2003 with the numbers of 880-00728 & 880-00826. The 880-00826 was a KNR-7H Hunter model. Earliest known NR6-17 was 264-28048. And with the following models,, KNR-7H, 264-50241, KNR-717H, 264-56067 and KNR-717HX, 264-65971 are the lowest known numbers. (So far.)
