As always,, time seems to go faster than we figure. It's already time to plan for the 14th annual Ruger Forum East Coast Gathering here at my place.
Hard to believe we've had this going on this long.
So,, here's the details;
When; The first weekend in October,, 10/5-6/24. Some folks arrive on Friday (10/4/24) & are welcome to come to the house for a "social" gathering. Saturday is the main day. A range day.

Where; Hawkeye Gun Range at 2373 Owl Hollow Road, Mill Spring NC

What; Just a fun time for folks who enjoy firearm socials,, where you can shoot your guns, try other guns, shoot the breeze, enjoy fellowship, a Saturday evening Low Country Boil cookout.

Who; This is always fun. Initially it was considered just a Ruger Forum thing. But we've NEVER turned anybody away. We invite friends & such,, and guests can bring friends etc. It's an OPEN invite,, no membership, no secret handshake, and,, it's NOT just about Rugers. Other guns are welcome. If you have a firearm you think may not be welcomed,, just ask me & we'll figure it out. We've enjoyed all kinds of different guns, other brands, suppressors, big & small over the years. Normal types & unusual types.
IF YOU ARE A MEMBER HERE, AND WOULD LIKE TO MEET OTHER MEMBERS,, YOU ARE INVITED. NO SPECIAL INVITE NECESSARY!
All I ask is that you notify me that you are coming so I kinda have a "head count."

RULES; Very simple. I have (2) rules. SAFETY FIRST and HAVE FUN!
Under safety,, eye & ear protection required on the range. No unsafe gun handling. If you have to,, ask me & I can clarify anything.

I'll have a variety of different target set-ups,, and even a bay for an "action shooting" run. I have steel targets, & other goodies.

Accommodations; many traveling members choose to stay in Forest City due to the more reasonable motel rates. The drive from the motels there is only about 20-25 minutes. If you choose to stay a little closer,, Lake Lure & Chimney Rock area have places,, but the "tourist season" rates apply. And it's about a 10 minute drive,, unless there's an "event" of some type going on.

I have several tables where you can lay out some guns for a kinda "display" if you wish. No,, we don't do a formal display type of thing. Just bring what you wish to share or shoot.

ANY QUESTIONS,, PLEASE PM ME OR ASK IN THIS THREAD!!!!!

Moderators,, please make this a "sticky."

I'm trying to organize my schedule to make it. Shouldn't be a problem and I am looking forward to seeing everyone again this year!

And I would just love to shoot a Magnum Desert Eagle. Specifically one in 357.

And the reverse, if I have a gun someone would like to shoot, I'm more than happy to bring one over.

Count me in. Definitely Saturday, maybe Sunday. Okay to bring a folding table?
And the better half won't be coming, so I would consider splitting the cost of a room for Saturday night…

Y'all know my answer,
Sorry, No desert eagle in 357 magnum Kevin
but I do have a few Sigs as well as a rifle and a AR style 'pistol' with a brace in 357 Sig.
@blume357 I'm going to bring that Sig I bought. The one that didn't ship with the extractor. I put a red dot on it and with all the parts, it shoots very well. The 320 Specter Comp. You might like it.

If all goes as planned Will and I will be there. I say that because Linda is back in the hospital ... at Hyannis. Hopefully she will be turned loose on Friday or Saturday and get back to Maryland. What happens next will be the determining factor.

the only problem was it was too much to comprehend... kind of like most gun shows... but not really complaining.... I'm still trying to figure out what I will bring this year.... really leaning toward bringing my Ruger collection... but it is not really even close to exciting....

It was kind of telling on myself... two folks have asked in the last couple of days in the rifle section about putting a red dot on a mini 14 and I thought about there might be a way to change out the hand guard over the barrel to one with a scout rail on it for the red dot and so I opened up my cabinet with the two mini-14s in it to see of that was possible and then had to just stand there and stare for a minute..... I had totally forgotten that I had done this on the one I spent a ton of money on trying to make accurate....

the only point to this is I need to bring this puppy to the gathering in October....

Oh, and Fox Mike, I've got two easy pop up canopies I can bring if the weather looks sketchy....
