I hope to have most of the stuff done prior to folks arriving so it can be just fun for everyone.
Yep, the weather forecast does look pretty good right now.

Well, I just want to wish you all a safe trip, to and from, and a good time on Saturday. I don't shoot a whole lot anymore, I would just like to meet some folks. We are trying to plan for next year. Wifey's back surgery being a major factor. It is so far that we would have to make it a vacation trip, and stay in the area for a while.

There is a whole lot to do around there. My wife was asking me what I like about the trip.

Besides the people, getting to drive through The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is pretty spectacular. And Pigeon Forge and Seiverville (spelling) is nice as well.

And then it's just really scenic around Lake Lure NC. Contender could tell you more about that area.

In two years, when my daughter is a Junior in high school, she wants to come with me to see everything.

Plus it's a big cultural difference from Dallas. 😀 I remember the first time I went, everyone was eating and then started talking about NASCAR. In Dallas, it would have been football, or baseball.

Anyway, I'm leaving today, see ya'll in a few days.

If y'all get into talking about any sport other than just plain shootin' I'm going blank ... I don't follow any of them...

I'll be there Saturday morning but probably will not arrive as early as in the past.. .half the time when I showed up no one was around yet.
Bringing 9mm and 357 Sig ammo as well as a little bit of 30-06. just in case someone wants to shoot the Gibbs rifle Ron in Pa sold me...

What time are you leaving? I travel down 301 through AP Hill then 207 to I-95. Pit stop and coffee at the truck stop at 207/95. Probably through Waldorf around 08:00
I was thinking 6-7am to beat some of the traffic and get checked in and be able to relax but nothing carved in stone. I'm 10 minutes off 301 about 15 minutes from the bridge.

I just returned from my annual muzzleloader hunt in Colorado trip this past Sunday. We are about to pull the plug on the annual trip after 27 years, due to 2 of the 4 of us that have always camped in the Rockies having health issues that prevent us from our get-together. So I hope to make the 14th Annual Gathering 2024.

How was the hunt? Glad you were able to keep that tradition going. We'll hope to see you next year,, if possible.
I got a muley. That's the only tag I was drawn for. Paul lives in Texas and his health is so bad that he is mostly unable to leave his house. Tim lives here in Kentucky close to me. He has a joint condition that is making his life hard. Jeff is an instructor at the Air Force Academy. He is retiring at the end of next year and he and his wife plan to buy a motor home and travel the country. So we two may do a farewell meet in the mountains next year for a few days. We all went to school together here and are the same age 62. Lifelong friends that loved to hunt and loved the mountains. But the end is near for that.

Man,, Miss Penny LOVES mule deer. I've only ever killed one,, and to this day,, it's still her preferred wild game. Antelope is her second choice. My mulie had a soft sage flavor to the meat,, and she really enjoyed that.

I understand the way time creeps into stuff & causes traditions to dwindle. But,, the simple fact of the many years y'all enjoyed together is priceless. Reminds me of a simple statement; "Those who experience life, truly live."
