In the past- another country.
Saw it last night at a preview showing for GI's out at the base, the theatre was packed, good movie- the GI's really liked it- full of action, lots of combat and even fire fights from horse back- I liked it a lot.

**** stars for me.

A little corny in places but WTH its a movie and a damn good one for those days.

Not the usual Hollywood Prog/Commie idiocy- no men in tights, alternate lifestyle heroics, and not a smidgen of a "America Bad" plot.

Quite the reverse in fact. Uplifting and patriotic.

Got some laughs from the crowd ESP a line about military contractors. :)

The movie is based on a true story

Recomended check it out!

Just finished the book and it was great also. Looking forward to the movie.

When I see 'based on true' events or equal, I figure maybe, possibly, less than 50% is true.

Not to say the movie isn't a good one, just that the qualifiers usually means a lot of bogus baloney is used to 'enhance' the movie...any movie.

There was a free showing last week for LEOs and I missed it. But, I now know there is a book. I will get the book on my kindle and see the Movie on the cable at that point.

Wow, you're a buzzkill.

whichwatch,

I'm afraid so, as I've seen movies with qualifiers like 'based on true events or based on facts' and I happened to know the precise truth and ...the movie wasn't even close to the facts.

However, I enjoy fiction, so if it's a well done movie wonderful, but don't pee on my shoes and tell me it's raining when it come to 'facts'...

My first cousin Lelaine lived on a ranch in the middle of nowhere Nevada. Her kids were born and raised there.
After 911 they and other "Ranch" kids were specifically recruited due their ability to "RIDE" ,horsemanship and knowledge of horses including veterinary skills.. Her boys Will and Wade left shortly after. Whether Army or CIA I don't know and other than to say they were "There" it's no talked about.

I'm a fan of 12 Strong!! Just saw the movie and I Recommend it. It starts slow - domestic situations, builds in the middle, and has serious firefights at the end!!

What is not to like? Dramatic license? of course. How do you condense days or months of action into 2 hours. Knowing it is a telling of a true story that is not trumped by the national media, as many as possible should see what Americans best can accomplish!!

I would rate it up there with any movie I've seen. It was very much based on a TRUE STORY, for those folks who don't keep up with things. Never the less it was a 2 hour movie you can only pack so much in it. I will be seeing it again. If you wait to see it on the little screen, you will be disappointed compared to what you could have seen. Then stay and read the credits, to get more of the story. I can't imagine worse conditions to go after you enemy under. Afghanistan is what it is, and you have to work with it and around it. It was so classified (like so many things that happen) that most people have no idea what our military is capable of. And the enemy doesn't either.

I HIGHLY recommend it!!!

Fox News has run some interviews with the actual participants. That said I would like to eco some of the praise from above. If you can, see it in a theater. It is the first movie I have seen in a theater in years and I may go back. (When did theater's get reclining seats?)
