Anyone have any experience with these? I picked one up recently and mounted it on a laminated model. Easy to mount and amazingly bright, even in day light. Took it to the range today and seemed like it was about 2 1/2" high at 25 yards. Not sure if I want to mess with it before trying it at farther distance first.
Any thoughts?

so we need to have a better explanation of what you mean by "about 2 1/2" high at 25 yards". was this just when it was installed or after being adjusted as far as the elevation would go?

Sorry, this would be point of impact vs. where the red laser dot dot sits on the target. This is with the factory settings, installed straight out of the package. Just curious if they are set for a longer distance than what I could do at the indoor range. I fear adjusting the laser settings only to find out it would have been perfect at say 50 yards or 100 yards..

I imagine the controls are centered at the factory, as each individual rifle is going to have small differences in exactly how the barrel band fits, no to mention how each owner installs/tightens it.

They are really no different from any other optic, in that you know you'll have to tweak it to get it sighted in.

google found a sales brochure stating it should be set for zero at 25 yards.
Looking at the photos, it looks like the beam is about 3/4" bellow the bore centerline.
so with HV ammo, the drop at 25 yards is about 3/4" so the intent was to have the beam parrelel with the bore.

However, if you have found the point of impact 2 1/2" above the beam, you will find "zero" to be farther out.

this graph is the "drop" for CCI HV (red), SV (green) and QUITE (blue)
the dashed green line would be the beam set for zero at 25 yards
the dashed orange line is the beam 2 1/2" low at 25 yards, thus it looks like zero will be about 80 yards with HV

Wow JFB,

thanks for the info, I read it twice to make sure that I understood it correctly and I am sure that I will need to study it a few more times. Awesome information, thanks for helping me to comprehend the answer that I was actually asking (just asking in a poor way)

Thanks again

D

MnBulldog,
have you decided how you wanted to set up the laser? Being 2 to 3 " off over most of the range seems like a lot.

Check your state hunting regs. In several states just having the laser afield is ATL - loss of gun and hunting license could result (on the spot!).

for paper at the range and cans, fun i hope.
