#1 RSI forend removal

Is there any trick to removing the forend from a #1 RSI? Does the metal cap have to be removed? If so, what's the trick to remove it without marring anything? Thanks in advance!

The trick to any of the RSI stocked rugers is removing the cap. Take the screw out of the cap. Then you have to slide the cap forward to remove it. I use a plastic pick in the screw hole to slide it off. Sliding the cap off the tip of the forearm is the only way you can get the cap off.

Hi Yes you do need to remove the forend cap remove screw and slide forward then remove bottom screw and remove the wood
