Just heard this evening that a dealer up in Alberta will be taking delivery of a 460 S&W #1 in February, with a couple more to follow. I didn't even know that these were being produced yet, has anyone seen any of these yet?

To my knowledge they are not out yet. I have one on order at the distributor I do business with an don't expect to see it for a couple months.

Haven't heard of a single example yet, other than the one Ruger had on their 2009 SHOT and NRA displays.
And I still know of only 3 in .475 Linebaugh so far.

Make that (4) in 475 Linebaugh. I took delivery of one 2 weeks ago. Great rifle!

Please send me a PM on your sn so it can be documented in the reference. Info will be kept confidential of course.

Looks like they are starting to circulate, Prophet River (Alberta, Ca) has listed a #1-S 460 S&W, #1-S 475 LIM/480 Ruger @ Cad$1199.00, and a #1-B 308 Win on the shelf and ready to ship for Cad$1399.00.

What are these rifles selling for in the US?

I paid $989 US for my #1 in 475/480. I passed on one for $899. The one I got has killer wood the buttstock anyways forearm is plain but a very good color match. It is on layaway should have it in about two weeks. I will post pic and send Chet15 a serial # then.

What type of velocity would a 460 S&W be capable of producing, out of a Ruger #1? It has got to be up there pretty high. Talk about a gun that is surely on my dream list of firearms. Wow.

I shoot a S&W 460V. What a caliber. Thank goodness for reloading, though. 300 grains going 900 fps feels nothing even close to how 300 grains at 1600 fps feels.

Thanks Mike7mm08, just kinda curious on the pricing. From the pictures of the three that mentioned none had exceptional wood. To me, the wood makes a world of difference in what I'm willing to pay for it.

Yes, I bet loaded heavy that 460 would hammer on both ends !!

Were any of the No. 1-B in 308 available through distributors in the US?

They were actually cataloged not too long ago, but have disappeared from their listings again. Wonder if Ruger found a few "B" weight .308 barrels in a corner somewhere. As with the non-prefix 1-B in .308, this is a good one!!

Just FWIW I'm shooting a 395 gr hard cast boolit from my 460V at just over 1400 fps. Its a hand full but nothing I can't manage. This is my trail load for bear and one of the reasons I bought a 460. I really wanted a 480 but when Ruger discontinued the SRH in 480 I went with the 460.

Waste of a perfectly good rifle action to shoot a revolver cartridge.
I could see it if the action is of a weaker style like some of the lever action rifle.
None the less is a very accurate cartridge out of a pistol at 100&200 yards.
