I think people are hyper sensitive now because of the Maryland bridge thingy.
A loose barge isn't that unusual but it's not real common.
My town borders the Mississippi River so commercial river traffic is super common here. There's an ADM facility here amongst other things including Bunge grain storage.
No reason I see to automatically set your hair on fire and blame illegal immigration or liberals or Muslim terrorists, etc.

Agreed. That is what is wrong with the world today. People seem to want to immediately place the blame on someone without actually knowing the reason something occurred.

High water, and all that extra flow, they broke loose from their moorings. Bad lines? bollards pulled loose? need some better reportage!
I once (and frequently since) thought i could do better than many reporters i have seen, who cannot make proper commentary matching what they see, but instead read the script handed them. With backlit projection, some of the talking heads arent even there.
