Try some different ammo and stay at or below 55 grain bullet weight. If you want to shoot the heavier stuff (although 62 gr should be ok) with that 1/9 barrel your gonna need to do some experimenting to see what your gun likes. imho

Dry firing is ok with an empty magazine in. The SR series has a Mag disconnect that can cause damage if dry fired without a magazine installed. Oh, and welcome to the forum. :D

Update. Finally got back out to the range today and fired 200 rounds of the cheapest mix of stuff I could buy at the Academy here in town and it fired them all perfectly with no failures or trigger problems. I'd like to get another few hundred rounds through it but I now feel much better about...

I sent mine back for trigger reset problem that, for some reason I can't figure out, was worse with the 17 round mag. Sucks because I shoot the gun a lot better with the 17 rounder. Hope it is fixed when I get it back.
