thanks ,my rifle with the change is serial # 703-62xxx ,still I was shocked to see the change, I'm waiting a response from the ruger customer service site,I guess they will say they are trying to improve accuracy, but they sure make it hard on us that use suppressors and like to change calibers...

I stand corrected the new barrel may be threaded, but the change is unwelcome to me, my extra barrels don't fit, and modifications require a gunsmith. Is this happening to 10/22's also?

New change new 77/22 rifles no longer have removeable barrels the new barrels are pressfit, no more barrel retainer assemblys, no more aftermarket barrels, excetp gunsmith fitted. ralph

Does anyone know when ruger changed their 77/22 .22LR target rifles so that the rifle barrel is no longer attached with a barrel clamp ( barrel retainer assembly). It is now press fit, so after market barrels must fit by a gunsmith. This is not a question it is a statement the change has...
