I’m left handed but never got into bolt actions since they’re built backwards. Pumps and semi auto filled my needs.
That being said, I applaud Ruger on these and WILL look for one in 7.62x39! Great universal round. I woulda bought one in the M77 had they been offered lefty.

Actually of all the options, that is the one that I would likely prefer, and possibly the 5.56. I don't understand the plethora of straightwall cartridges at all. I could see the 300 BLK with a shorter barrel and a can, pinned and welded, for use with sub's.

7.62x39 is a deer killer...I've taken three so far with my Ruger Gen 1 Ranch.
The straight walled chamberings are for States that prohibited bottleneck cartridges. And the three that Ruger is offering in these left handed rifles, will absolutely get the job done.

I understand the reasoning behind straightwall cartridges for hunting those particular areas, but those areas are a relative minority.
I think the 308W should have been included, as a minimum, and perhaps the 6.5C as those are immensely popular chamberings.
I built a 450 Bushmaster AR in the hopes MN would eventually allow straightwall cartridges in shotgun zones, but instead the state just eliminated shotgun zones altogether, except for a couple of counties in the twin cities area.
I've been a lefty for my entire 75 years and have been shooting bolt action rifles throughout that time. Apparently, I just got used to it. The deer, prairie dogs, woodchucks, squirrels and countless paper targets apparently couldn't tell.
I'm not saying either of the "military" cartridges are bad, just that those are the only bottlenecked offerings.
I have one of those for an eventual hog hunting trip. Life keeps getting in the way of those plans though....
My son and I should be hunting them right now but he had to have an torn ACL replaced 3 weeks ago. The scope is on a QD, and I have a thermal on a QD for night hunts.

I'm "wrong handed", but "right eyed", so I have never had need of a lefty gun.
Funny thing, my Dad has been shooting and hunting with me for over 4 decades and out of the blue a few years ago he says "you shoot right handed?".....

Me too, a lefty that has never even handled a lefty rifle. When I handle a potential rifle for sale, I see how friendly the rifle is to we lefties. One that is really handy is my Savage A17 Sporter .17 WSM and my Savage BMAG .17 WSM. I must include my new Ruger American Ranch gen 2 5.56 rifle.
As has been said many times. Left handed people are in their right mind.
The thing about a lot of southpaws, and pretty much every right handed person, is they have bought into the idea that lefties "don't need" left handed guns. On the other hand, can you imagine the outcry of of the righthanded population if only left handed firearms were made and forced on them?
And as to the firearm this thread is about, I wouldn't be caught dead with such a hideous looking bastardization.

I have one in grey, and TBH, it is a fine gun. Not sure what your issues are with it....

?My mom forced me to use my right hand ( she was upset we allowed our daughter to remain a lefty ) and I have horrible hand writing as a result.
I'm left eye dominant and have always fired long arms left handed.
Being raised by a wrong minded mom was hard.
I too have terrible penmanship. But mine was caused by a teacher with a yardstick. If the flat didn't stop you from trying to write with your left hand, the edge did. I broke for than a few.

I grew up in a 'left handed' household. Dad was ambidextrous and Mom's middle son was severely left handed. To 'fit in' I learned to do many things left handed or with either hand. It has served me quite well over the years and all those bad thoughts I had about acquiring this capability have been replaced with gratitude.
When my right hand was bandaged after carpal release surgery, I continued to do my daily accounting, shot a couple of deer, switched to left hand carry by simply changing holsters, and fed myself (and 'other' personal chores) w/o a hitch.

A teacher I had in grade school was teaching writing and kept smacking my left hand with a wood ruler until my hand was black and blue. When my mom realized it she went to the teacher and threatened to use her ruler on her if it happened again. She also told the teacher my dad was a cop and he would put her in jail, and he would have.

Ironically my 2 oldest kids both broke their right arms just before school started. Both learned to write lefty without any trouble. Both switched to righty after the casts came off also without any trouble.
My youngest is lefty, but right eyed, I taught him to shoot righty. No issues.
Pretty sure we are all more or less ambidextrous.
