Why would anyone bore a hole in a Blackhawk wide spur hammer? I got this one from Numrich arms and figured maybe the PO had an issue with lock time? Excessively hard primer strikes?

Anyway, it works and since right now they're scarcer than hen's teeth I won't send it back. Ideas?

Probably some new-age 1911 type figgered it would give him "faster lock time" and thus "more accuracy."

Hey, it could be worse. He coulda gone all the way and "skeletonized" it. ;)

That would truly be unique!!!
Good adjective. Note that "unique" does not mean "cool" or "good looking" or "a great idea." ;)

Actually, come to think of it, I'm a little amazed that somebody, somewhere, hasn't fully "skeletonized" a single action revolver's hammer. Maybe someone has, and I just haven't seen it. (Not that I WANT to.)

Hear hear! That's the way REAL MEN shoot, My Brother! ;) (y)
Yeah that too. I was usually running when doing that. Now I amble as fast as I can manage. IPSC and IDPA are about as exciting as shooting sports get. I need to rebuild my dueling trees and get one of those Texas star things to play with in the yard I really prefer the dueling trees because I don't have to bend over and pick them up.

So If I understand this right, people put SBH hammers on regular Blackhawks so it is easier to cock the hammer because it's lower ?

CHEVYINLINE6.
Maybe, but not in my case. I just like a wider hammer. I'm an old S&W guy and like their wide target hammer.

Most of my Ruger revolvers are a Bisley model but the few that are not will eventually have the SBH hammer, that is if they ever come available again.
