Retired my 80yo Savage 6A, so needed a new .22lr.
Nothing fancy, but a good deal. $369 total for rifle, ammo (500rnds of CCI 40grn rn), and extra mag.

Just ran both mags to make sure everything worked. It did. I think I'll get a dot or scope for it soon, since I can barely see the tiny front sight.

Impossible to go wrong with a fine 10/22!
I probably won't mess with the internals any time soon, although just from shooting it today I don't doubt it would benefit from some work - trigger job, etc. I did find an old and very cheap Tasco 3-9 scope in one of my drawers. Put that on and got it sighted in at around 25-30 yds just pacing it off in the back yard. Glass is the worst I've ever seen in a scope, but good enough to distinguish between a deer and a armadillo. I was pleased with the group sizes, so the rifle itself seems to be accurate. I do like the light weight of it: 4 lbs, 15oz with scope and loaded mag according to my scale.

I'll probably shoot it a lot with the weather turning nice now & .22lr is getting pretty cheap around here. That CCI I bought with it worked out to 9.9 cents/round, and will likely go down some more this year.

Congrats on owning the best 22 ever made !!! There are some really great drop in triggers out there…. Best thing is that everything is so easy to work on with the 10/22

That's the same model I have. Threw a Tasco BKRD30 RedDot on it for my aging eyes. Great plinker.

Got some BX-15 mags, after the original rotary mag jammed on my first range trip (and had to be completely disassembled to free up). Of course they have now been permanently blocked to 10 rounds after our Beloved Governor Murphy (D-NJ) made me a felon for the mere possession of them!

No doubt, the 10-22 is a fine rimfire rifle. I have one myself and shoot it a lot. However, the only rimfire rifle I have ever owned that has had a perfect operating record is the Remington Nylon 66 that I got as a Christmas present in 1962. No failures to feed, no failures to fire, no failures to extract/eject, etc. The only changes I have made to it are the sights (now peep rear sight) and a small amount of weight in the void in the forearm under the barrel. It is my only "perfect" rifle!

PS: I hope you enjoy your new rifle as much as I have enjoyed mine! Happy shooting.

10/22's. My favorite semi auto .22 rifle. I've owned many, still own some, and they all work very well and can be incredibly accurate.

I've shot so much military equipment, mostly with horrible triggers, but still earned an Expert Badge. I learned to tolerate heavy or rough triggers. That said, I still appreciate a nice trigger. The 10/22 has a simple remedy. In the old days I always installed an expensive trigger group. Roughly 200-bucks each, but well worth it. In later years, I just install a BX trigger, 1/3 the cost of the heavy hitters (Volquartsen, Jard). The BX trigger is not a Jard, but is still far superior to the OE trigger. At 80-bucks, sometimes less, it's a lot of bang for the buck.

It's been years since I shot with a 10/22 I must admit, since the person that owned one had moved away... but in a few hours that problem will rectify itself when I go pick my layaway up.

A couple (stupid?) questions:

1. Anyone use those evil large capacity magazines (BX15 and/or 25), and how do you like them?
2. Is it possible to bump fire the 10-22? ;):devilish:

I've used both magazines. The BX25 was without incident. The BX15's have been balky, and that's been a reported problem. There is a kitchen-table fix for the BX15 and/or BX25.

Went to the AF Base Exchange this morning and picked up a BX-25 while I was there. Tried it out a few minutes ago and it ran fine. Might get another. I will be getting a BX trigger in a week or 2 also. :)

I put a NIKON 3-9x40 rimfire scope on a new 10-22 just like the one pictured. Results were 'satisfying'.
Got a Nikon on my Henry .41mag. Good scopes, but unfortunately they don't make them anymore. Have a ZeroTech on my RPR .22mag. Also a good scope. That said, I haven't decided yet, and may eventually go with a reflex or ACOG. The old Tasco on it now is purely temporary.

I have two BX15 magazines and really like them. I've yet to run into any trouble with them.

The model you have is the same as the first one I purchased, really not that long ago.
These are great 22lr rifles and I'm really enjoying mine. I've added a scope to my first one and then bought a second 10-22 with wood stock to keep for use with the open sights. We are having fun at the range trying to get better at both scope and open sight target practice.

Congrats on your purchase and enjoy the 10-22!

A quick update:

Got rid of the junk scope and put a reddot on it. Also got a BX trigger on the advice of several friends, so that went in yesterday. Easy install, and much better than the factory stock trigger. Also, tried and failed to make the gun go bumpitybumpity. I guess just not enough recoil or I wasn't doing it right. Oh, well. Don't need to waste ammo that fast anyway. :)
